The North Face Fantasy Ridge Gore-Tex Jacket
To provide a brief historical insight into the name of this jacket, British mountaineer and Everest veteran George Mallory coined the term "Fantasy Ridge" to describe what climbers call the "great problem" — this was the Kangshung Face of Everest, considered so dangerous that climbing it would be pure fantasy. Developed in 1993, the Fantasy Ridge jacket was the most sophisticated Gore-Tex jacket of its time and was a tribute to impossible
feats. This jacket is almost an exact replica of the original Fantasy Ridge, only slightly modified to meet modern requirements using advanced technologies and design. The outer layer is made from 100% polyester fabric woven with Gore-Tex 2L materials and treated with a DWR (Durable Water Repellent) finish to withstand harsh outdoor conditions. This waterproof fabric provides an impenetrable moisture barrier, ensuring dryness. This layer not only ensures waterproofing but also the soft, comfortable lining provides excellent thermal insulation and fits perfectly against the skin when the bottom layer has short sleeves.
The jacket's sleeves are connected with zippers under each arm for ventilation. The hems are adjustable, and the jacket features an internal drawcord around the waist, as well as one running through the pull-on hood — these features allow the jacket to be adjusted to fit your body and activity. The jacket has ample storage space — four large external pockets and three internal pockets, all spacious enough to hold a phone, wallet, first aid kit, and anything else needed for daily use or quick access during hiking or climbing. The brand is embroidered on both arms and the back on the shoulders, while Gore-Tex is embroidered on the front pocket. The lining features a TNF logo design, along with a label telling the story of Fantasy Ridge. The jacket is parka-length with an extended back to provide maximum body coverage. Similar to many high-end technical garments, this jacket has a loose fit, and it can be easily adjusted with drawcords.
