FOR SALE: Canon 50mm f/1.8 LTM (Leica Screw Mount) – The "Japanese Summicron"
Up for sale is a beautiful example of the legendary Canon 50mm f/1.8 in LTM (L39/M39) mount. Often referred to as the "Japanese Summicron," this lens offers a fantastic entry point into vintage rangefinder glass, delivering exceptional sharpness and character without the Leica price tag.

Why You Need This Lens
This lens is a versatile workhorse. Whether you are shooting film on a classic rangefinder or adapting to a modern digital sensor, the Canon 50mm f/1.8 punches well above its weight class.

Universal Compatibility: Native mount for Leica Screw Mount cameras (Leica II/III series) and Canon Rangefinders (P, 7, IV, etc.). Personally, I used it on Canon P rangefinder camera. Soviet Friendly: Works perfectly on Soviet rangefinders like Zorki and FED.

Digital Ready: Easily adapted to Sony E-mount, Fujifilm X, Nikon Z, and Leica M (with a simple LTM-to-M adapter).

The "Look" & Image Character
This lens strikes the perfect balance between vintage vibe and modern performance.

Rendering: It produces a classic, slightly lower-contrast look that is perfect for black-and-white photography and flattering for portraits.

Bokeh: The out-of-focus areas are smooth and creamy, avoiding the "nervous" look of some other vintage lenses.

Sharpness: It is surprisingly sharp in the center, even wide open, and razor-sharp when stopped down to f/2.8 or f/4.

Condition:
This specific copy has been field-tested and is mechanically superb.
Focusing: The focus ring is buttery smooth with the perfect amount of resistance—a joy to use.
Aperture: The aperture ring is "clicky" and crisp, holding settings firmly.
Tested: I have personally shot several rolls of film with this lens to ensure accuracy and performance. (See attached sample image for results. More images on request). There might be slight fogging inside the lens that had no effect in my experience of 10+ films. My reason to sell: I've just purchsed Canon 50mm 1.4 which adds to the bulk and even visible in the viewfinder, but theoretically gives even better quality).
