Lilita Bērziņa joined the Daile Theater at its very beginnings (in 1922) and remained loyal to this stage until the end of her life. She was Smiļģis's "ideal actress" – versatile, beautiful, and with immense inner strength. Her most famous and iconic role was Spīdola in Rainis's play "Fire and Night."
