The company "Cult Design" was founded in the spring of 2001, with designer and co-founder Marita Lord. All design and creation activities took place in Gothenburg, where Maria created most of the products, sometimes with the support of freelance designers. In the fall of 2015, the company "AB Alrik Hedlund" acquired the "Cult Design" brand, which is now located at Mölndalsvägen street 95 in Gothenburg. Maria Lord was born in New York, in the Queens district; her mother is Peruvian, and her father is from Romania. At six months old, she left the USA to live with her grandparents in Lima, Peru, which greatly influenced her artistic talent and design aesthetics.
