The delicate botanical composition featuring thistle and wildflowers is executed in decal technique with hand retouching. Fine graphics, soft palette, and delicate gilding along the edge highlight the elegance of English bone china from the pre-war period.

The porcelain is thin, translucent, light, yet durable — qualities for which Aynsley is highly valued by collectors.

Aynsley was founded in 1775 in Stoke-on-Trent — the center of the English ceramics industry. In the late 19th to the first half of the 20th century, the factory became one of the leading producers of bone china and supplied items to the court. Pre-war pieces are especially valued for the quality of the material and careful hand finishing.
