🎀 A royal color combination coffee English earthenware duo.
⚜️ Produced by Carlton Ware, it was one of the most recognizable and prolific ceramic manufacturers in England, located in Stoke-on-Trent. The company was distinguished by bold designs, bright colors, and innovations, making it a favorite collectible object worldwide.
⚜️ The company was founded in 1890 by James Frederick Wiltshaw together with the Robinson brothers, initially operating under the name Wiltshaw & Robinson. 1894: The trademark
"Carlton Ware" was introduced, and the factory was renamed Carlton Works. ⚜️ Initially, the company produced Victorian-style dishes with floral motifs and gilding, often imitating the more expensive Royal Worcester porcelain.
⚜️ In the 1920s and 30s, Carlton Ware became a leader in Art Deco style ceramics. During this time, some of their most iconic works were created, such as unique glazes with metallic sheen (Armand Lustre). ⚜️ "Chinoiserie" and "Mikado" patterns were very popular—magnificent, hand-painted scenes with pagodas, dragons, and exotic birds on bright blue, red, or black backgrounds. ⚜️ In the late 30s, a series began with embossed flower and leaf motifs (such as oak leaves, anemones, and foxgloves), which became the company's hallmark for several decades.
⚜️ The offered duo represents the iconic series line - Royale series, which included rich colors like Rouge Royale (dark red), Vert Royale (green), and Bleu Royale (blue).
⚜️ The factory in Stoke was closed in 1989, but the Carlton Ware brand is still highly valued in the antique market, especially works created before 1960.
The duo was produced in the 1930s.
